Louis Poulsen Brings a Retro “Aisle of Light” to Power Plant Mall

An immersive grocery-inspired display celebrates color, creativity, and
the return of Verner Panton’s iconic Panthella Originals.

In celebration of Verner Panton’s centenary, Danish lighting house Louis Poulsen unveils Aisle of Light — a retro grocery-inspired pop-up introducing the return of the original Panthella colors. Held at focus_, R3 Level, Power Plant Mall, Rockwell, the activation transformed the store into a nostalgic, color-filled destination where everyday references met iconic Danish design.

The launch brought together members of the design community, tastemakers, media personalities, celebrities, architects, designers, and creatives. Guests explored the striking installation while enjoying specially curated refreshments, artisanal light bites, and interactive experiences inspired by the Panthella Originals palette.

Among those in attendance were Justin Edwards, Louis Poulsen APAC Regional Manager, and Jennifer Soh, Louis Poulsen APAC Regional Sales Manager, who flew in from Singapore to take part in this one-of-a-kind event. Alongside them were notable personalities such as Isabelle and Ava Daza, Jess Wilson, Paolo Abrera, and Amanda Griffin Jacob, and longtime patrons of design such as Patrick Diokno, Tomas Cadiz, Cynthia Almario, and Jason Magbanua, all gathered to celebrate the enduring legacy of Verner Panton and one of Louis Poulsen’s most recognizable creations.

Step Inside the “Aisle of Light”

Created as an homage to the bold spirit and expressive energy of the 1970s, Aisle of Light reimagined the familiar grocery experience through the lens of design, transforming focus_ into a playful retro-inspired space where lighting took center stage.

Every detail drew from the joyful visual language synonymous with Verner Panton’s world — playful, unconventional, and unapologetically vibrant. Throughout the space, guests explored “fresh stocks” of design history while discovering the iconic Panthella Originals in their historic colorways.

The pop-up came alive through a series of thoughtfully curated activities inspired by the Panthella color palette:

Take Your Glow To-Go: Enjoy a selection of refreshing, specially curated color-matched juices and beverages inspired by the five original Panthella colors (from deep cranberry red and lime-infused greens to bright orange and rich coffee brown).

Light Bites: Indulge in artisanal, perfectly baked pretzel sticks available in savory combinations like Garlic Butter, Parmesan, & Cream Cheese, or sweet pairings like Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt.

Express Your Creativity: Commemorate the launch by designing and assembling your own custom retro bag tag/lanyard, adding a personalized, playful touch to your daily gear.

Whether longtime mid-century modern enthusiasts or newcomers to the world of collectible lighting, attendees experienced firsthand how the Panthella Originals seamlessly blend historical significance with contemporary functionality.

At the heart of the activation is the official launch of the Panthella Originals collection, reintroducing Verner Panton’s iconic 1971 Panthella colors in celebration of the visionary designer’s centenary year.

Caffeinate, Illuminate!

Lights are on at Louis Poulsen Manila as the premier Danish lighting manufacturer celebrated its formal launch with a special Scandinavian pop-up cafe last September 1, 2022 at the 28th Floor of the Twenty-Four Seven McKinley Building, BGC.

The expansive space turned hygge haven overlooks the BGC skyline, setting the mood for a cozy evening as guests basked in the glow of Louis Poulsen lamps over crafted coffee and cocktails by The Curator, warm pastries from Eric Kayser, chill beats by DJ Pamcy, and meaningful conversations. The carefully curated cafe space was set up to showcase some of the brand’s most iconic pieces including the Patera pendant lamp, Panthella table lamps, the PH 3 1⁄2-2 1⁄2 floor lamps, and the eye-catching PH Artichoke pendant lamp.

Louis Poulsen icons wall

As an homage to the brand’s brilliant heritage, a Louis Poulsen icons wall was also set up so guests could learn more about Louis Poulsen’s key pieces, important historical milestones, design collaborations, and design processes. The history wall featured four of the most iconic lamps coming from the brand: PH 2/1 and PH 2/2 ‘The Question Mark’ by Poul Henningsen, Panthella by Verner Panton, and the AJ by Arne Jacobsen. Basking in the spotlight was the eye-catching PH Artichoke pendant lamp, suspended beside the history wall, allowing the guests to admire its glare-free lighting and unique design from any angle.

Everywhere We Shoot, composed of photography and visual artist super duo Ryan & Garovs Vergara, also stunned with their own interpretation of Louis Poulsen lamps through a series of photos displayed in a spectacular suspended installation. Guests departed the cozy space with a pack of postcard prints as a memento from this visually stimulating experience.

Ethel Tan, Christian Seiffert, and Priscilla Lydia

The event was attended by several members of the press, partner architects and designers, and society guests. Also in attendance were key personnel from Louis Poulsen’s Asia Pacific arm – Christian Seiffert, Managing Director; Priscilla Lydia, Area Sales Manager; and Ethel Tan, Brand and PR Manager. Both Christian Seiffert and Focus Global Inc.’s very own Vice President Lolita Sy welcomed the esteemed guests with a special message to underscore the rich heritage of the brand and integration into Focus Global’s growing portfolio of brands.
